This video from Chester French’s Free Mixtape Jaques Jams (available here) is yet another example of how artists are taking their marketing into their own hands. DA, Max, and Diddy drive to Los Vegas Navada and shoot their own prequel/sequel, whatever it would be called, and posted the results on the CF Blog. I’ve noticed this trend emerging with artists and music mogals like Dam Dash and Mos Def with the Black Roc project. Instead of spending tons of money to make videos that follow MTV’s formula for rotation, you go and shoot what you want to show people and post it on the internet. This ensures complete creative control and opens the door to a greater array of possibilities.
I like that way of thinking.
